Amazon Business Exchange: ‘Digital-First’ – Interact with Amazon Business and its customers in a free-to-attend event

Next month, October 6-7, sees the return of Amazon Business Exchange (ABX) — a free-to-attend event for procurement, finance and supply chain leaders. This on-line event will bring together a community of B2B buyers from procurement and the supply chain, and representatives from industry, to connect and collaborate and to share the experiences and learnings that heads of procurement and finance from some of largest organizations across Europe are experiencing right now. Right now, as the COVID-19 pandemic takes its toll on jobs, consumer spending and the global economy, many businesses are scrambling to adjust to a new financial reality. They are also coming to terms with the fact that the path to recovery remains long, and mostly uncertain. Experts, including Deloitte, predict the U.S. economy won’t bounce back until the middle of 2021. And the Bank of England is anticipating slower recovery, as late as the end of that year, for the UK.

Within organizations, the CFO’s voice is one of the most critical during a crisis, but contributing directly to the firm’s financial resilience is the CPO, who has a strategic role in leading the business through the tough times ahead.

We spoke recently with one CFO who has many years of experience across corporate finance and public accounting and is now CFO of spend management firm Jaggaer. We asked Jeff Laborde how he sees Procurement and Finance best working together to drive benefits across the business, given their natural overlap in priorities and responsibilities.

Supplier management — the need to implement at speed in times of crisis

Coupa’s new CPO — his first few weeks in the seat

Spend Matters' London office spent some time (virtually) last week talking with Coupa’s new CPO, Michael van Keulen, as he joins the business spend management giant at a pivotal time for procurement. He talked to us about his background in finance, his transition to procurement and what he expects his first steps will be as he steers procurement at Coupa through the uncharted waters of the months, and years, ahead.
